A Little Bit About Me

Hi! My name is Sara Plotkin. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I will graduate with a double major in Elementary Education, and Elementary Special Education with a minor in Spanish from the University of Indiana, Go Hoosiers! My childhood in Texas gave me a huge appreciation for sports, I am a HUGE Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan.  I also love playing with my golden retriever Sadie, she's the absolute sweetest. However,  there is one thing I love more than my dog and sports, and that is working with children. I hope to one day create a classroom  where my students learn to love learning, as well as a place where fun and meaningful friendships are created. I am such a strong believer that no two children learn the exact same, which is why I want  to incorporate a huge variety of types of lessons into the classroom so all styles of learning can thrive and be successful.  It is my goal  to create a welcoming, interactive, and fun learning space that young children love being in. I have loved working with children all my life from babysitting, to working in a preschool, to teaching a Kindergarten Sunday school class, to student teaching, and finally studying to be a teacher.  I feel like teaching is the perfect profession for me!  Kindergarten is my absolute favorite age because at this age kids are inquisitive, and ready to learn and see what the world has to offer them, and it is my greatest hope that I can provide my future students with a start to their education that puts them on a path to great things, with so much academic and personal success!

Technology Integration in the Classroom

Technology can make an ordinary classroom into an extraordinary one if used correctly. I want to integrate technology into my classroom in a way that if effective and engaging. However, it is imperative that I pick age appropriate technological tools in order to benefit my students and not overwhelm them.  I believe that resources such as Google Site, Symbaloo, Class Dojo, and Piktochart  will be very useful and effective in my future classrooms.
